The low stars has to do with people that have really high expectations. I read them prior to going to Secrets St Martin. There are much better places to go for the money that is charged here I am attaching pictures just to verify some of the things I mentioning. That was confirmed when on day three a sewage truck was parked over the sidewalk for more than half the day pumping sewage. We noticed on day two that a pipe had been laid across the lawn from one Pit to another and we suspected that was the problem. Light fixtures are crooked and there was a persistent smell of sewage for two days. ![]() Wooden supports over the patios are broken and in disrepair and one building has a severely rusted roof. Fences that should have screened some of this are just broken and laying on the ground. Unused maintenance materials are stored up against the sides of some buildings. The concrete walks are broken and create a hazard all through the complex. The shower leaving from the beach to wash off did not work. The water that should have flowed over the edge did not and the other side of the edge had trash of plastic glasses and other debris just sitting there. The pool is also quite nice although it is supposed to be an infinity pool, that piece was not working. Twice we booked excursions through the concierge and twice they forgot to reserve transportation. The housekeepers and people in the restaurant were also quite nice but we can’t say that for the rest of the crew. The interiors of the room have been redone and are quite nice. The room was the size of a small hotel room with a bar stuck in the corner. The Amenity room provided for upgraded guests were supposed to offer breakfast, canapés and drinks. On two mornings the cream we were provided for coffee was spoiled and the last day the people at the next table have the same problem. The best food was the breakfast buffet however even that was not top notch. We were offered a patty or a weenie but no bread. When we went to order they were out of hotdog buns and hamburger buns. They also serve lunch at the pool consisting of mainly hotdogs and hamburgers. Yes they have two different main restaurants and one Asian restaurant, Only one main restaurant is open at a time. What arrived was a pre-breaded frozen chicken patty that had been cut into fourths strips with marinara that tasted like from a jar dumped on top. They also had one dish that was not and it was chicken Frances’s. All of the entrées were pasta of some kind which I cannot eat. Then I had to re-sign all of the papers before they would activate my key and my husband had to come in later and sign the papers also or they would not activate his key. I asked them to check their records again and they made a mistake. ![]() I went to the front and they had us checking out that day. Four days later when coming back from the beach we were locked out of our room. It was a Saturday evening and he did not know how to do it and ask if we come back the next day which we did and paid. When we arrive we verified that we were staying seven days but that they had not charged us the upgraded price. When we called back the agent wasn’t available and was on vacation and nobody else knew what to do. Three times the booking agent said they would send us a link to do the upgrade but it never arrived. We want to be upgraded to preferred as there were added benefits. Before we arrived we had trouble booking.
